Actually the angry burger is what I ordered and it wasn't bad. Yet, as a further illustration of my original review of Stout NYC, the burger, though good, was so undistiguished that I do not recall what was on it...
Yes, they are welcome in the dining room, but not at the bar or bar tables.
Depending on what time you go... It is a bar.
Yep
Yes
Its a burger with buffalo suxe and blue cheese with fries
Yes.
Proper pint of Guinness. Lots of room. Big TVs and nice crowd. Gets busy during ranger game nights and after work Happy Hour.Glassware is clean so no surprise flu when you get home.Big place. Good for groups. Seems to die down after midnight on weekdays.Good bar either way.
Nice beer and whiskey collection. Great spot to pregame
What a way to celebrate my last day of the coat drive than to have one last lunch hour with my fellow co-workers. My boss decided to take us out personally and I greatly appreciate that. Anyway, this place is freaking spacious so it can easily accommodate any large group of people for events. The staff are real friendly and are very knowledgeable of their menu and drinks. As a first-timer, I went with their recommendation which is a Hop a Cab.......yes, it is a real drink and I thought it was funny when I first heard the name. It was really good though and so was the chicken sandwich. All in all, I would recommend this place for a large gathering or if you want to have some variety during your visit.
Great beer selection. Food is solid. This review is for Sunday lunch. Torn between the burger and fries (out of my love for the fries backed by a solid burger) and the everything crusted ahi salad. Alas, no ahi to be had. Went with the burger without the maybe I should have ordered the Ahi guilt. Still not disappointed. Got a good feel for a midtown stop. Try it.
While over in new York the champions League final was on so myself and the missus went here was great craic really cool staff nice selection of beer and bar food plus Liverpool won get in 😃
Really great food! I was in the private room in the back with my coworkers and even their shoter menu they give for private parties had a ton of variety and had gluten free options! I got the steak sandwich with a gluten free roll and it was fabulous. They also carried gluten free beer and drink options as well. Great place to go for gluten free people eating out with their allergy free friends and family!
This place was so roomy and extremely clean. Only downside was that such a big place, only had 2, single occupant bathrooms. I had the strip steak and it was delicious. My daughter had the grilled chicken sandwich and she loved it. This was a mid afternoon Sat, and it wasn’t too busy, but I’m sure it gets its fair share of people when nighttime comes around.
Stopped in here with a friend just to grab a quick drink. The bartender was friendly and told us it was Stout day. Service was good the place is nice.
So crazy busy. Rangers game and college football going on. It was fine, but nuts. Couldn't get a real feel for the place
The food was awesome, the prices were lower than I expected, and the service was excellent. The server kept a great place which allowed us to enjoy our meal and didn't interrupt our conversation. The food was very fresh and full of flavor. I look forward to coming back!
Good ambiance and the stout NYC pizza that we had a thin crust with delicious topping.Update: came second day for bar drinks and french fries and enjoyed the music and karaoke :)
We went the same weekend as the December Santa crawl. This bar is 23+ so you get rid of all the annoying Santa drama from the 21 YO crowd. Even so, it was a popular place. A nice chill atmosphere and great beer selection. I'll definitely be back.
Killer burger and great fries. Service is A+. Love this place for what it is. Happy hour is awesome. Good wine choices too.
It's a great place for delicacies. It has enough place and their workers marvellous.
Best ribs ever. They literally slide off the bone. They have great flavor. They have a great selection of beers. They have plenty of seating. Highly recommended if you are attending an event at Madison Square Garden.
Amesome spot. Stopped in for a couple drinks and was very impressed. I walked in during (assuming) shift change so first drink was very slow to get to me. Asked bartender for something not too hoppy, preferably pale. Not sure what she brought me... It was a bit darker than I thought I wanted but I loved it. Next beer, different bartender, same request... He brought me a pale white (don't know what kind but I think it was Allagash)... I enjoyed that too. Staff was attentive and friendly. Crowd was fun and regulars were "entertaining". Bathroom could have used some attention but was not gross. Will definitely go back.
I'm a lover of stout beers so I naturally wanted to try this place. The beer menu is extensive with many stouts in addition to other beers. I came alone late one night and was seated in the quieter back section - a nice touch, as the place is very large and spacious, and can be quite noisy. I tried the Everything Crusted Ahi Tuna (see photo). Service was very fast and the food was delicious. I will be back to sample the many beers on the menu and the (much appreciated) vegetarian and non-meat food options! The midtown location is just steps from Penn Station and Madison Square Gardens, so it's easy to nip in there for a quick beer or a bite while waiting for a train.
Always a good time at Stout. Friendly staff and a great beer selection. The food is good too. I've been there on my own and for our holiday party down stairs. If you're looking for place to hold a private event, this is a good place.
Great pub with a good menu, great beers and excellent cocktails. Lots to do. The server, Sarah is absolutely amazing! Take good care of her and shell take great care of you! Great experience! Won't forget!
The Google tag says is all "big bar with big beer list"... No better way to describe it, however, you'll find many other bars with an equally extensive or better beer list. You only come here for a sports bar scene with ample beer selections relative to any other Irish pub and moderately more upscale decor because the food will be equally as disappointing and bland. Stout is the Volvo of New York City sports bars, its nice enough and does the job well, its more expensive than you expect for slightly above average performance and features, its better than your neighbors beat up Ford (see every generic Irish pub and dive bar with sticky floors and lacking character), but you still wish you had yourself a nicer German car. Oh, and the Stout Madison Square Garden floors will also probably be sticky just like your neighbors "Ford", at least on game days.
Great place to watch sports. Okay food and pretty extensive drinks list. Really loud place even with limited amount of people, not good for conversations or your date night.
I went to Stout for the first time last night, before going to MSG for a concert. We got there about 5:30 and the place was pretty crowded, the other half of my party for 4 was not there as of yet, so we put our name on a list for a table, however, I was able to go to the bar and grab 3 seats pretty much within 5 minutes. We heard such a great time at the bar, Kia was our bartender and she took such amazing care of us. When my friends arrived, they just jumped right in. We ordered a variety of drinks and beer and an assortment of appetizers and dinner. We ordered the wings (amazing in size stbd portion) dumplings (outstanding) and bacon wrapped shrimp... delicious. For dinner, I had the burger with cheddar and bacon... it was awesome!!! My wife also enjoyed her dinner as well..... but south the beer, I forgot what she ordered but i know that she enjoyed it. Thank you for a great time Kia!!
Large space for NY! Two floors with karaoke on the bottom floor Saturday night. For how busy they were the service was still nice. I'd go there for large groups or parties.
Great food and service. Very good beer list as well. Recommend a seat at the bar. Bartenders know their stuff and are really nice.
The food is so much better than it has any right to be... The dumplings are *incredible* and the pizza is clearly made with high quality ingredients. Combine that with an extensive beer list, and this is a "where can I go near Penn Station?" top pick.
Close to MSGHostess was wonderful. Asked if we were attending a show, and got us a table without waiting. Bartenders were great. Let us try samples of some beers to decide on one. Only problem was the kitchen. We both ordered Stout burgers, medium. Orders went in together, came out together. 1 was rare, 1 was well done. I guess it averaged out to medium. Didn't have time to have orders re-done, so we both ended up with something we didn't want. In their defense, the bartenders asked if everything was okay, and we said yes. I'd go back, just try other things
Great staff and larger than expected. Many good stouts as you would hope.
Basically a huge sports bar. Not much to see here. Some good brews, but the food is lacking character. I guess this would be a great place to meet up with friends before a game or show, but nothing really sticks out as special.
Just as good as the Grand Central location except the french fries were a total miss - can't win them all 😢 Otherwise I'm still a huge fan 👍
Good old fashioned Irish pub with necessary updates. Decent food and prices. Proper service. No problems.
Ordered veggie burger and french fries. The food was delicious and in budget. Recommend the above meal only when you are very very hungry. Wasn't able to eat the fries. Amazing place
Love the ambiance and the food was amazing. The waiter was on point and always making sure everything was good.!!!
Solid sports bar directly across the street from msg. Has a very impressive list of beers on tap. Great place to gather before heading into the game.
Food was amazing! Service was good and atmosphere was great. Would recommend stopping by and grabbing something to eat.
The drink options are quite good. I had a few drinks that I never heard of and ended up really liking. The prices where quite out there for mixed drinks and I can’t afford to consistently come there. When looking at the bill I was very surprised at what I was seeing haha. I do have to say the house cut fries here are absolutely delicious. While the food is probably not the main reason for many people’s visits, I have to point out the good quality. If I were to come back again, I would know how to go about my ordering so that I spend only an arm, not both my arms and legs lol. If you got money and don’t really care then this is a nice choice. It is a tad bit loud for my taste but compared to many other bars this spot is actually very tamed; and this was on a Saturday night. Over all decent place for the fat wallet, enjoy your options.
With a great menu and festive atmosphere, Stout is always a good time. Some would call this a sports bar or a great place for social gatherings. The many rooms, bar games and friendly staff anytime is a good time to make your way to Stout. On certain occasions bouncers are present.
Wonderful food, busy but with short wait times! A great place to eat amazing food with an even more amazing price and if you feel so inclined to watch any verity of sports on their tvs
Stout is awesome! Great fun place in NYC. Drinks are great, the buffalo calamari is to die for, and our meals were great! Huge downstairs but not sure if that’s just for private events! Really fun place
What a fun atmosphere, just a 4 min walk from Penn Station it was a perfect place to stop right before catching out train. Great service and good selection of beer absolutely recommended
Stout is alive everytime I come to it. I have been going to Stout, on and off, since 2007 and it never disappoints. I finally took a picture of some food today, I usually eat it before I remember because it looks so good. I ordered the crabmeat and shrimp burger and it was delectable.
This is a great place for bites and drinks. The mini burgers are so delicious! And the mini egg rolls! The guac and nachos! The atmosphere and ambience is very inviting. It’s low lighting here. But it’s very spacious. Staff is helpful and courteous. Thank you for all you do.
Went to the bar on the lower level. Vibe was chill. Ordered some buttermilk chicken tenders with onions rings. Sauces were amazing and so was the bartender. Will return.
Great Irish Pub with a lot of beers on tap and good service. Great to watch sports. The menu was good and the food was delicious. Recommend the chicken caesar.
Good craft beer bar with decent food. Lots of TVs good for watching sports. Good spot to hit when in town for something at MSG
